The UWC Feral Cat Project (TUFCAT) | How to Help

How to Help TUFCAT

There are numerous ways that you can help us. Apart from the monthly spay days, our outreach work has been negatively affected because of our scary vet bill. We need to clear this in order to be effective. Please help us if and where you can:

Please help us if you can:

  • Pay directly towards our vet bill
  • Set up a monthly debit order (every single bit helps)
  • Sponsor a sanctuary cat (R150 per month). We update you and you can visit ‘your’ cat.
  • Sponsor a sterilization (R300)
  • Donate prizes (including services you can offer) for raffles & auctions
  • Help us organize fund-raising events
  • Place a collection tin at your place of work or business
  • Donate 2nd books to sell at UWC
  • Donate cat or dog food
  • Donate dog beds, kennels, leads, collars, etc. (for the farm dogs)
  • An artist to redraw our logo
  • Volunteers to spend time grooming cats and dogs
  • Adopt or foster a cat or dog from us
  • Nominate TUFCAT for the Woolworths MySchool initiative by competing and sending this form to cs@myschool.co.za.

Adopt a Clever Cat

Have you ever considered donating monthly via debit order or becoming a Cat Sponsor? Email sspicer@uwc.ac.za to find out more.

PLEASE NOTE: We are a registered PBO and supply 18A certificates to donors.

Tame, domesticated cats (and even kittens) are sometimes deliberately dumped on our campus and we immediately remove them, so that they can be rehomed. They are taken to the vet to be checked, vaccinated and sterilised. Thereafter we advertise them until a suitable new home is found. Application forms are filled in (home checks may be done) and an adoption fee of R650 (which includes vaccination, deworming, testing, sterilisation and microchip costs) is payable by the new owner/s.

    Did you know?

If you have a rodent problem, rather than using pest control poisons that are bad for the environment and a danger to household companion animals and wildlife who may ingest the remains of these animals,  a green alternative exists: feral cats. Cats are age old, highly effective and inexpensive means of controlling rodents. A feral cat can keep your factory, farm, barn, shed or shop rodent free for the price of daily cat food.
